Advantages: Profits help Children's charities.
Disadvantages: Postage is steep at £3.60 on every order.
The Christmas 2000 catalogue of "Oodles" dropped through my letterbox the other day. In my capacity as a Primary School teacher and a parent of a two year old, this catalogue appealed to me, as the catalogue claims to "help children everwhere!" Upon further investigation, the catalogue actually helps the following charities: Mencap, Great Ormond Street NSPCC NcH BBC Children in Need Barnardos. Now, if that isn't enough, the catalogue does actually have some worthwhile gifts to send for. Firstly, they have a range of personalised gifts, from tea towels to Christmas stockings, dressing gowns and pencil cases. The range of educational toys is also very good, at reasonable prices. I also love the range of cuddly toys, which I've never seen available any where else. I am also a fan of traditional wooden toys, though expensive, they provide quality and durability - their range includes Solitaire, Jenga, skittles, marbles, mazes and noughts and crosses. For Christmas, why not order your wrapping paper and cards, whilst helping Children in Need. You can even order a Floppy Bear for a paltry £7.50 instead of the usual £14.99! Orders can be placed by: Post, Telephone, Fax and on the net, at www.charitygifts.com.
