Office parties are a time to let go and have a good time with all your colleagues, they can be a lot of fun, but they can also be disasterous. Here are 3 commandments to help you get through the mine field known as "The christmas office party". 1. THOU SHALT NOT COVET THE BOSS This has to be the most crucial of all commandments and needs to be obeyed at all times if you value your job and maybe your sanity. Supposedly if Cosmopolitan is to be believed this is an extremely common, relationships between any employees at the office party, yet the boss is the number one no no as ultimately he hires and fires and can determine your job satisfaction ... I slipped into bed and there was 'Morse' waiting to cross-examine me. "What time do you call this then?", he asked. My slightly fuddled brain didn't react very quickly so the light was switched on to continue the interrogation, "I'll tell you shall I? It's gone four". I remember thinking, "Well if you know, why are you asking me?" "Your office party was supposed to finish at twelve, so where have you been?", the relentless questioning continued. I knew my rights, so I decided to remain silent. Goddam it, he's my BoyFriend not my bloody dad. I'm all grown up, not fourteen. What ... Read the complete review

Be gentle with me good people for last night I bought and paid for the £200 hangover that I'm now nursing. Yes it's time for the office party anecdotes but at least we did it in style. For the third year out of four we had our bash at the Glasgow Hilton and all in all we had a good time. The cost of £49 is expensive, too expensive for many on the staff. Twenty-two of us went with we 30 year olds being the youngest there. The remaining staff chose to make their own entertainment which is a shame but understandable. As you'd expect from the Hilton it's a pretty lavish affair with great food and service but prices to match. Bottles of ... Read the complete review

Office parties are famous (or infamous) the world over. I have often made a fool out of myself by breaking my own set of rules. Please dont or you will end up in all sorts of trouble. Here are my tips on surviving the dreaded office Party. 1)Dont drink too much. This is the main rule as the other rules are normally only ignored if Rule 1 is blatantly abused. Heavy drinking in the company of workmates can lead to a loss of all morals or worse still, control of your mouth. Remember that secret that Sharon from Finance told you about the boss? Well after 15 pints is not the time to reveal it to the others in the office. The boss will aslo not give you a ... Read the complete review

I work in Central London and having just moved departments I had the privilege of attending two Christmas lunches at different hotels, namely a Hilton National and a Swallow International. In common with many hotels, both establishments served a buffet style lunch. The Hilton laid on a traditional English style buffet, and whilst it was not as grand as in previous years, it had a reasonably good selection of hot and cold meats, salads, vegetables and a few other odds and ends. The food was served at an appropriate temperature and the trays on the buffet table were never more than half-empty. The quality of the food itself was of a very good standard and the ...
