Newest Review: ... y. Athens was founded on a style of government that meant, at least monthly, groups of Athenians would gather to discuss the issues of the day. Having discussed them, the majority view would carry the day and thus, decisions were made to the good of the numerically superior. Socrates challenged this saying that just because the majority felt one way about a subject, ... more

So there I am, watching the box as I do in the evenings but wondering what to watch. Should it be yet another movie or would I watch a programme about philosophy on cable. Now I know folks think I'm a bit of an old movie anorak but on this occasion it was too good an opportunity to miss i.e. it was a feature about the meaning of happiness and this particular 30 minutes was about Socrates. Socrates was a Greek philosopher although it's so flippin' difficult to not think of Bill and Ted's "So-Crates" pronunciation (dude). Anyway, having watched it I got to thinking about democracy and what it actually means. Now this may all sound rather ...  Read the complete review

Sky sports kick of their Indian coverage around 6pm to catch the early bird workers and cricket fanatics. Charles Coalville is not the best sight to wake you up in the morning, or is Bob Willis. A middle aged Ian Botham strides out to do the Geof Boycott prodding of the wicket pre toss. How we need him prodding a few sixes into the crowd at number seven instead of the college boys initiating fatal collapses. Captain Hussein finally won his 2nd toss in twenty-three looking as surprised as everyone. The second big shock of the day was Graham Thorpe going home to see the misses. He’s a notorious family man who likes to be with his kids opening ...  Read the complete review

I am one of the biggest sports fans around. I say one of them as there is always someone bigger than me! But when it comes to broadcasting quality Sports programming, there is only One choice. Sky Sports 1. With all of the competition it wipes the floor. With BBC1 and ITV you have a 6PM News programme. You have the same on Sky Sports. It brings you all of the breaking stories from around the globe just like the actual news bulletins on terrestrial television. While being at work and listening to the radio gives you the headlines from time to time, Sky Sports Centre gives you an in depth and detailed review of all of the sport you can ...  Read the complete review

I used to go to a local match every other week but I stopped when I got Sky Sports and before anyone says that kills the game its the Irish League and its dead anyway. I also hate standing at a match and someone spitting or coughing all over me.In the comfort of my own home I can sit with a few beers and listen to Andy waffle on until the two teams run out.The footie coverage is great except for some reason Man City always seem to get beat when they are on live, but i suppose they always get beat when they arent. Anyway I see Liverpool vs Valencia is on Sky Sports Extra on Thursday so European matches as well, its money well spent. Apart from the ...  Read the complete review

This is my opinion on Sky Sports, and their disgustingly rip-off attitude. My Moan: I have been a Sky Sports subscriber for many a year now, although through my Cable package, so this means I am unable to receive their extra channels i.e. Sky Sports Extra, etc, and this is where the problem lies. I have noticed over recent months how Sky are now starting to shows lots of their stuff EXCLUSIVELY on “Sky Sports Extra”, it started with the Cricket (Overseas matches between India, Australia, etc), then the odd show here and there became exclusive to this channel, and now, the final nail is, they have moved the very important “Sky ...  Read the complete review
