There's the traditional frozen meats, grocery and beer and spirit's hamper, but nowadays there are a choice of various vouchers for high street shops or even activity vouchers, these make a great present for someone who enjoys motorsports or flying and the vouchers start from as little as £10. The high street vouchers cover nearly every big named store ie woolworths, argos, mothercare, icela...more

Premium Review Other Hampers: christmas taken care of with park (321 words)

I always remember my mum having a christmas hamper when I was a child from our milkman, I used to love helping her unpack all the groceries as I could then see all the "treats" there were for the christmas period. The last two years I have had hampers from park, I have found them to be very good, I get regular monthly statements so I can make sure the payments are correct and I also have an account online where I can manage anything to do with my orders. I can even add to them reduce them or change them. Hampers have changed a little over the years, they have a lot more selection to choose from. You know what they are, gifts for those you don't know what to get for Christmas. [I'm re-writing this for the third time today, the second was to remove my company's web address, and our competitor's, now the third time is to put in the questions that people have been asking via the comments. You can see them denoted by *** before the paragraph. Sorry, but I want this as complete as possible!] Well, as an insider on the hamper industry (We have our own hamper site. I can tell you much, much more goes into a Christmas hamper then your think. First there is the initial costing. This involves what the hamper should ...  Read the complete review

Okay, I know, summer is only just upon us and the last thing you want to be thinking about is Christmas right? WRONG. Now is JUST the time to start planning christmas, in fact if you were me its quite late. I am actually known localy as a 'christmas freak'. I love the season and everything that goes with it. The food, the tree, the decorations, the present buying and wrapping. I'll stop there as I'm sure you get the picture. Having said that I havent always felt this way. There were, in the past, a few christmases where I have sat and cried. You may know the feeling, little money, A self employed husband (therefore no holiday ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Outdated (181 words)
by - written on 06/12/00 (Very useful, 72 readings)
Rating:

The original system of Christmas hampers was an excellent idea, although the number of currently available options reduces the benefits greatly. The whole idea is based on being a simple way to budget. Start paying for a hamper early in January and you can purchase £50 worth of groceries for every £1 weekly commitment. A very good and proven way to reduce that major outlay in December. However, it is also a fact that very few people actually use all the products supplied in a hamper. Most people accept the inclusion of unwanted items as a tolerable inconvenience which is outweighed by the benefits. Nowadays the need to use a hamper company for this reason has ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Other Hampers: Pointless hampers. (197 words)
by - written on 20/11/00 (Very useful, 71 readings)

I remember looking in my mums Christmas Catalogue every year marvelling at the Christmas Hampers that were for sale. I used to think..... "What is the point in paying all that money for a load of food that you can buy at the supermarket for half the price?" To this day, I have not met a person who can justify buying one. For months afterwards, there will be leftover tins that you will never use, cluttering up your cupboards. The tin of Spam.... The pickled Olives..... All items that seem a good idea for Christmas but are not practical. It seems to be a gimmick for catalogue companies, department stores and Harrods to make more money ...  Read the complete review
