Every year we have a Christmas hamper from our milkman, through the Express Dairies scheme. Each year we have been extremely pleased with the hamper and expect the same this year. Our choice this year is the Pennine Hamper for which we have been paying £2.50 per week (Total £105). You do not have to pay the fixed amount each week, but you buy stamps from the milkman for any amount you choose, which you keep in a savings book until December when you exchange it for your hamper.

The hamper contains all the usual Christmas items that you would expect, such as a Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, crackers, biscuits, snacks, pickles and a large selection of various tins and packets. What we do like is the number of unusual items you get in the hamper, which we would not normally buy, but give an extra interest to some of our Christmas meals.

I know we could visit the local supermarket and buy most of the items in the hamper, but it is a good feeling to have the food cupboards filled to the brim ready for Christmas without the shopping hassle, and the money each week is not missed.
