Premium Review Pantomimes: It's Pantomime (Oh No It Isn't) (704 words)

**Overview** Well as christmas draws ever closer, I thought it would be a good idea to do a review on pantomime (Oh no it wouldn't!) I love pantomime, it's surprisingly brilliant as I will try to explain....later :) **What is Pantomime (or Panto)** It is a christmas play, no it's the christmas play, set for the family; slapstick for the children and err a great deal of smutty innuendo's. ...Go through the looking glass that is. Who? Alice of course! Let me start at the beginning. I ponder the question 'when does a musical play, aimed at entertaining and amusing children and adults, become a pantomime?' Perhaps it is all about tradition, the usual run-of-the-mill Mother Goose, or Jack and The Beanstalk etc.? I hope not, because I have found a delightful musical play, showing at the New End Theatre, in Hampstead, which seems to have all the fun of a pantomime and yet breathes a breath of fresh air into the concept of family theatre. Stephen Daltry, who has produced this masterpiece, is already a successful composer in his own ...  Read the complete review
