Newest Review: ... World disabled cup doesn't follow soccer's show piece just because the facilities and grounds are prepped and ready. The commentators never seem to criticize the athletes on their sports abilities or style ,just patronize them. There were way too many categories in the pool that meant just about any one could have had a go and won a medal.Too many drugs were allowed in the competitors blood streams assisting performance and no one checked them to see if they were disabled,ie the Spanish basketball team amongst others. Even the BBC were at it when they held the sports personality of the year awards by not putting in a ramp f... more

A good mate of mine is adisabled and we both agreed that we found the Special Olympics and the TV coverage a touch patronizing, to the viewer and the competitors. I know Tani Grey is a very articulate and intelligent girl and a great competitor but do the people who watch the Para Olympics cheer them on as sportsmen and women or is it a kind of obsequious, patronizing well done, you can do it kind of way. My mate didnt think right i will watch the games because everyone is disabled,The World disabled cup doesn't follow soccer's show piece just because the facilities and grounds are prepped and ready. I would just like to write a piece on the Paralympics, which were held after the Olympic games in Sydney. There hasn’t been enough coverage given to the events and I think the Great Britain did superb to come a very respectable second behind Australia in the medal table. It was the best showing ever, every athlete did there best contributing to the brilliant games for the GB Paralympics. The paralympians proved to everyone that nothing is beyond anyone, they had the guts, the determinations and the will power to compete. They didn’t let their physical disability stop them. They are a symbol of hope and optimism for anyone who needs ...  Read the complete review

Paralympics 2000 in general: Our Paralympians deserve a party! (310 words)

Our paralympians have exceeded all expectations in Sydney, coming a superb second to Australia in the overall medals table. They gathered the largest crop of gold medals ever, greater than the high of Barcelona and Atlanta! So surely we should be seeing celebrations, a grand homecoming, maybe even Mr Blair meeting the team at number ten. But no, our paralympians retuned to Heathrow unnoticed by the majority of the media and therefore the public. There couldn’t be a greater contrast with the arrival of their able bodied colleagues some weeks earlier. They returned to the UK in a blaze of glory with the likes of Redgrave and ...  Read the complete review

Ignored Olympians (236 words)

The ParaOlympics have yet again been and gone without hardly any notice at all. Did they get the same media coverage, I think not! We had an hour or two here and there, leaving us little chance to see these brilliant atheletes representing our country, and I think it is disgusting. All the coverage is given to the "actual" Olympics, which is generally surrounded in drug-taking allegations and scandal, while these superb people are left in the shadows of their chosen sports. For everyone who did not realise that there was another major athletic event happening, let me give you some info. They were held in Sydney, using all the same facilities as the other ...  Read the complete review
