This is a review specifically for the Sony sve151d11m laptop (in white). It has the Intel Core I5 Processor.
I have had this for 4 months now and upgraded to windows 8, otherwise it is as it was when it came out of the box.
I just want a laptop to work quickly and without fuss and this does exactly that - it is easily fast enough, has oodles of ram and memory for daily use (and some). I have never had a problem with blue screens, crashes or running multiple programmes.
Battery life is good so far and the keyboard gives a nice tactile feedback (one plastic key cover did pop off in the first week, but a drop of superglue fixed this). Has more than enough HDMI, USB and memory card slots.
The screen is lovely to watch DVD's on and the sound is not bad either. I think it has an independent graphics card (not sure what this means but it's supposed to make the picture better...)
Even though it is white and I use it every day, it is not grubby - even the keys seem to stay clean.
Slight gripes - touchpad has a mind of it's own sometimes, but overcame this with a neat Logitech wireless mouse from Asda for about £15. Also because of the way the screen opens, there are no ports in the back, meaning anything plugged in sticks out of the side - not a disaster, but depends how "tidy" you like things.
So far it has survived it has survived teenager use with no dramas or complaints.
Overall a good machine!
I absoloutly LOVE my Sony Vaio laptop. It is super fast, reliable and lightweight so easy to take to uni with me. It is the best laptop I have ever used. I used my cousins Apple mac laptop one day and loved it and wanted something that looked as smart and had the same sleek design which was also lightweight and fast, but I did not want Mac - I am a big Windows fan. When I first came across the Sony Vaio I was at uni and used it in one of the labs. I immediately loved it and went straight to PC World that weekend and purchased one, I had been wanting a new laptop for a few months but was undecided on what to purchase yet within minutes of using this I knew it was the right one for me. Mine is a hot pink but you can get them in many colours. They really are nice looking and work brilliant, I have dropped it loads (by accident of course) and my 6 year old daughter even dropped it down the stairs a few weeks ago, causing it to bounce from top to bottom, I was gutted I just thought it would be totally broke - yet to my shock there was absoloutly nothing wrong with it, I turned it on and it booted straight up and I havent had any problems with it as a result of that. All in all they are a bit expensive but deffinately deffinatley very much worth it!
I bought my Sony Vaio laptop a few years back now and wish I had waited for the advice from computer genious friend before buying.
This model (not sure if other sony vaio models are the same) has caused me many problems, the newest one being the keyboard has completely stopped working for some unknown reason.
There are many programs already installed, including google earth, skype etc, which is a bonus but this does not outweigh the cons.
We have had to reboot the whole system too many times to count for reasons unknown and we do have Norton Security, so that's not the problem.
After buying my Sony Vaio, my (complete computer techie) friend's response was not good and all the negative things he has said about Sony Vaio's have been proved right.
The upside to this laptop, is that it does look very stylish, mine's silver and also, as I mentioned before, it comes with ready to use programmes.
If you own a sony vaio or are thinking of buying one, I hope you have better luck than me!
Bought this laptop a while ago, at the time was a bit pricey compared to other laptops available but worth the extra money.
When i first set up the lap top, it took about half an hour to register and the majority of programmes like internet explorer and a pre-installed anti-virus were already set up and ready to go.
When using the internet the laptop works very quick, although this may depend on your internet service provider. This took about 30 seconds to connect to our house wireless network.
I mainly use the laptop for playing games, i have sevral games installed and found it does start up a little slower but that is to be expected. The games all play great and the graphics card is pretty good as well!
The laptop it self is light weight and slim line when folded up making it easy to store. The lap top normally holds out for a couple of hours and needs charging up regulary in order for best performance. It does give you plenty of warning when the battery is low giving you plenty of time to save you work or find the charger.
Hope this review helps
I was bought a Vaio laptop over a year and a half ago. I have a mixed review on it. Although usually quite speedy, it has been exceptionally slow at times. This is not due to me having taken up all the memory, as I use my laptop mainly for the internet, but some software has taken a long time to load when I've wanted to use it. The volume and mute keys on the laptop also have a tendancy to not work.
The keys have also worn qutie badly. Several letters have worn off completely. My mum struggles to use it as she cannot see which keys are which. This is certainly a flaw. The mouse pad is also difficult to use and often doesn't do what you ask of it.
The laptop is very visually appealing. It is sleek and attractive. It is also possible to purchase them in seveal colours. A my first laptop it was also very easy to adjust to having previously used a desktop all my life.
A sweet little laptop with some small flaws.
I got a sony vaio a little over 2 years ago to replace the laptop that i used to have, a toshiba, which had been very poor. I was hoping for a reliable product that would have everything the previous laptop i had didn't have, good battery life, strong wireless capabilities, a good memory and fast processing. So far i haven't been disappointed. The main use of the laptop for me is for typing documents and letters etc and other than that general internet surfing, ebay facebook etc. Therefore i wanted something that would work really well on wireless as i didn't want to have to keep plugging the laptop in to a modem and take away the freedom element you get with a laptop. It has been great and i have had minimal problems with any connection. Also the support offered by sony when any problem occurs has been very impressive and they are always quick to resolve any issues you may have.
I have of late been witness to some very malicious bullying going on under this dooyoo malarky . One of their 'Guru's' no less , plus girlfriend have been stalking the opinions of a very dear friend of mine (who is an extremely NICE person ) and taking it in turns to slate her opinions and thereby lower her ratings . These two little egotists of course only ever get 'very usefuls' themselves and by the ream . Well I am past being impressed by clones that masquerade as human beings and I am extremely unimpressed by little bullies that direct attacks against people who they just don't like the look of . Mr. Guru proudly states in his opinion 'As a hall of famer...' . Well Mr. Hall of Famer I graduated with an honours degree after being given firsts by a Labour MP in the current Government and you won't catch me with such a humungous head on my shoulders . Anyway , for all of the nice people that have said nice things about my opinions , I wish to say Thank you but I no longer wish to associate myself with dooyoo since the whole thing has such a potential for abuse by bullies . Ta ta all .
This laptop is superb to use if you are constantly on the go. As a life products manager I spend a lot of time on the road and with clients. The Vaio weighs in significantly lighter that other laptops like the dell. It also gets less hot on the bottom which is good if you use it in the car. I really like the styling of this machine it makes a difference to not look like the usual black boxes. The two areas iit falls down a bit are the battery life and speed. At 500Mhz it is a little down on the Dell 3239 which is 700Mhz. Battery life is abour 3 hrs which is not enough for a full day on the road. I constantly have to beg a bit of power from my customers.
