Secondly, the clay courts are actually astroturf, and are therefore no use to the Rover kids who were supposed to be getting some much needed practice for the European Clay Court season. The Sutton Junior Tennis Centre prides itself on being a club exclusively for Juniors, and it is supposed to be one of the best tennis centres in the country. However, recently it has deteriorated. It received a £2 million grant from the LTA to build some new indoor courts, and to build the first public clay courts in the UK. In my opinion they have completely wasted the money- the indoor courts are always vacant- probably because they charge £13 n hour which is completely out of a lot of people's range.
