Advantages: So many to choose from.

Disadvantages: Are none

There are a lot of tennis clubs in and around Nottingham and all of them are very good and have very good facilities. In this opinion I am going to tell you about some of them and hope to help you if you are a keen tennis player in the area.

Keyworth tennis club is an excellent club. It is based in a large village in Nottingham and has excellent facilities.
It has four Macadam courts, which is a very hard all weather surface. The courts have recently been resurfaced and are in very goods condition. Two of the courts have recently have floodlights added to them due to lottery funding. The courts are situated in a very nice area with a children’s playing park behind. The wind does not cause much of a problem, but the sun can be fairly annoying at times.

The club has a lot of members. The good thing is that there are a lot of juniors at the club so the club at the moment has a good future. They have a county coach at the club who is a very highly rated coach and player and have two other coaches that work there for about six hours a week. Me being one of them.
As the club has a lot of juniors it also has a lot of potential. The quality of the juniors is very high and they range from 6-18 in age.

Keyworth Tennis Club has a number of teams. They have three men’s teams. Men’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd and these teams do very well in the leagues. Especially the 1st team. They have won 4/4 matches this yeah and are going to get promoted.
We also have two ladies teams. Ladies 1st and ladies 2nd. These teams do very well in the leagues and have a number of good players playing for them.
Keyworth also has three mixed teams, which do well too.
Quite a few juniors play in the teams and this is very good experience for them.
Recently the club had a bit of trouble getting a full team out for each of the team but then juniors have come to the rescue putting in some excellent performances and keeping the club g
oing.

If you want to find out more about Keyworth Tennis club then go to...
www.keyworth-tennis.co.uk. They are one of the first clubs in Nottingham to get a website, so they have one up on a lot of clubs. ;)

The tennis club has a good clubhouse, with chairs, a bar, changing rooms fully equipped with showers and toilets and a pool table. The club has a good social side and everybody knows each other, which helps to create a friendly atmosphere.
I play at this club about 5 times a week as the facilities are very good and the membership price is one of the lowest in Nottingham.

Nottingham is very lucky to have so many tennis clubs. They literally have hundreds and all of them are excellently equipped and have teams playing in the Nottingham leagues.
The best facility for tennis in Nottingham has to be the tennis centre. The Notts open is held here and the facilities are truly great. They have nineteen outdoor courts and have eight indoor courts. The courts are excellent and are really good to play on. The tennis centre is very well run and is open to the public. I play there at least once a week in a performance squad and highly recommend it.
It is located very near to the Nottingham University on a road called University Boulevard. You can't really miss it as it has the biggest sign possible in the shape of a tennis ball.

The staff there are really nice and very helpful and always seem to know what they are doing. The coaching staff there is excellent and county squads are held there every day.
They hold coaching sessions for children of all ages from 5-18 and these are very good.
They have a canteen, bar and a pool table. The sports shop edge is also there and this specialises in tennis equipment and is of a very high quality.
The tennis centre has three floors. The second floor allows you to go up behind the indoor courts and has a viewing box for each court. This is very good
when you want to cheer along friends and family members.
On the third floor is a gym and aerobic classes are also held here. The gym is very well equipped and always welcomes new members.

The good thing about the tennis centre is that they have a crèche there. So if you want to play tennis but cant get anybody to look after the kids you can just bring them along with you.

The tennis centre is a great place to play at and there a number of tournaments held there each year for adults and juniors. These are always very well organised and are very enjoyable.
If you don't want to have the hassle of paying a membership fee for a club then the tennis centre is a great place to go to but the cost of the courts can end up being quite a lot in the long run.

There are hundred of other tennis clubs that I could talk to you about, but I am only going to mention one more. This club is at West Bridgford.
Recently after a large lottery grant, West Bridgford tennis club have had a large indoor facility built. There are only two courts in the building but a number of outside courts surround it.
The facilities are excellent and the clubhouse is really nice and welcoming. It has a very good bar and the club also has a highly rated tennis coach.

This club produces a lot of county tennis players, and this is all down to the courts being so good and the coaching being of a high standard. This club is run more as a business then Keyworth tennis club and it lacks a social side. It all depends on what you want from your club, as to which one you would choose to go to. I wanted to play tennis with people that I knew and with people that I see on a regular basis. If you also want to do that then I would go to a club like Keyworth. If you want to play a very high level on tennis but not socialise then you should go to a club like West Bridgford.

The membership prices for tennis clubs vary quite a bit. To
join a club like Keyworth for a years membership you would have to pay £70 if you are an adult, about £30 for an intermediate and £10 if you are 10 or under. Like I said earlier these prices are some of the best in Nottingham. To join a club like West Bridgford you would have to pay a lot more then this. If you are interested in playing at the tennis centre then to book an inside court for an hour it would cost you £9. To book outside is about £5. At most clubs they do a one-day membership deal, which means you pay a fee to use the facilities for a day. At Keyworth this fee is only £2.

I could go on for hours about the tennis clubs in Nottingham as I have played at a large number of them. So if anybody has any questions just leave me a comment and I will answer them as soon as I can.
