Advantages: looks very traditional
Disadvantages: needles everywhere, bad for the environment
For years I have insisted on a real tree. I dont know why really expect for it is nice to have a real tree all nicely decorated. Our first Christmas with a dog however we decided that we had better invest in a fake. I real tre may sound very nice and very traditional but with animals and children they arent really practical. All pine trees spill pine neddles everywhere. No matter what little trick you try or even if you buy a special tree it still happens. They are sharp and they really hurt and they get EVERYWHERE! I also found it hard to get a tree that had a nice shape all over. I know this sounds silly but it is much easier to decorate a tree that has lots of branches and it looks better to! Once Christmas is over and done with you then have the problem what to do with the tree and the even worse problem of getting it out the house without spreading the last of the neddles everywhere. I have tried to replant it but it dies on me and the dustbin men wont take Christmas trees so you have to get rid of it yourself. Fake trees have come a long way since the days of the silver ones. You can get some that look even better than the real thing and at the right price. We have got a six foot one that cost £30 and its still as good as new six years later. I have had both real and fake trees and I certainly know which I prefer!
