Advantages: well, it would keep me happy.
Disadvantages: mostly this is utterly unrealistic., I have been a touch selfish here
I wanted to fly, to tour the world and have laods of money, obviously, but this seemed a bit, well, pointless for the purposes of this list. I have opted to write instead about things that I would like which are just about possible, but not probable. 1)I would like more insight into what to buy for everyone else, I'm struggling this year. This borders on the supernatural, but let's say I want to be lucky when I go shopping, and hope that covers it. I like buying for other people, but most of my friends I haven't seen in months, so its going to be tricky. 2)A piano. I love the instrument, its my main instrument and I've gone two years without one. In an ideal world I would love a baby grand, a Broadway, but a halfway decent upright would be wonderful. I could have filled this list with musical instruments - I would also like a Hurdy Gurdy and a saxophone, and a viola and a cello..... but it would get silly, and what I really want is a piano. 3) A shower. Technically we've got one, but it does not produce hot water. I don't use it - not wanting to freeze to death. I like showers in the summer, baths always take too long. I live in hope. 4)A heavy Horse. OK a touch less realistic here. I love the shire horses, and would really like one of my own. I would need a field for it as well, but perhaps can sneak that extra wish in.... 5)A battle axe. This would be for re-enactment purposes. I could quite fancy a dane axe - which is a really huge axe, but would never be able to weild one safely. I want an axe with a two foot handle, or thereabouts, and a fairly small head, curved for hooking shields...... 6)Peace and goodwill. Not everywhere, just no family ructions, and no arguments. Several of my close friends have fallen out, and I would like there not to be open war over the festive period. I would like to get on well with my bloke's family too, if that could be arranged. 7) Clothes t
hat fit. I'm an odd shape, quite tall, broad hips and shoulders, large arm muscles and a fit of fat as well. Currently I have trouble buying anything that looks nice - most lothing does not happen in the odd combination of sizes I am, and I don't like the tent like stuff they seem to think suits larger women. 8)Digital radio. I don't have a TV, and I do lsiten to the radio a lot, but reception is dubious and it isn't always easy to find stations. I would love a digital radio. 9)A cinema in Redditch. When I first moved here, there was one, but now I have to go to Birmingham on the train. A cinema within walking distance is my idea of heaven, and it could happen. 10)Ok, I lied about the no supernatrual stuff. What I want more than anything else is for father Christmas to be real - for some magical being to put a couple of sweeets in a stocking for me. More to the point, for some magical being to leave little gifts for all those people who will otherwise have nothing. If I could afford it, I would be very happy to apply for this job. It's quite an odd bag really, looking over that lsit again. Hope you had fun reading, and dreaming up your own list. I think it is important to wish, even if there's not much hope. There's a lot to be said for hankering after the impossible. There's al;so a lot to eb said for doing something that will ensure someone else has a decent Christmas - it is a terrible time to be alone or to be short of funds.

- 04/12/01 Axes and good will, I don't know, I think it probably is best if the two go together. I do show fighting, not any real violence, so panic ye not! |
