1
I wish that we could have World Peace. This will never ever happen of course, no matter how many times we all wish for it. But I feel that the day we stop wishing for it will be the day that we lose our humanity forever.

2
I wish that one bright day next spring I wander down to the bottom of the garden before breakfast. A sparkle in the pond catches my eye, and I look down to see that a little visitor has left some frogspawn. And when I go back to the house to tell my partner all about it, she's standing in the doorway with a big beaming smile, about to tell me she's pregnant.

3
I wish that my girlfriend hadn't told me I was 'weird' the other week. It was a completely justified comment under the circumstances, but until that day she had been the only person I'd ever met who had never called me that. And I was devastated when she did.

4
I wish we could make contact with an alien civilisation next year. But I don't want them to be supremely intelligent lifeforms that revolutionise our thinking with their insights and knowledge. Rather, I'd like them to be as clueless about their place in the universe as we are, and just as inept in their attempts to communicate with us. I think we'd all be happier that way.

5
I wish I didn't feel so sad, so often.

6
I wish that astrology had never been invented. It fills people's heads with prejudices and expectations, and prevents people from being seen for who they really are.

7
I wish Psychology had never been invented. It fills people's heads with prejudices and expectations, and prevents people from being seen for who they really are. It is also the most dubious of all the sciences, what with the tool of analysis being the very thing thats being analysed, and all that. Quite, quite daft.

8
I wish I could talk to the animals, if only to find out why the cat finds Jeremy Paxman so fa
scinating. I'd also like to talk to those sinister looking fish that live at the bottom of the sea. I'd like to ask them what its like never to see even a glimmer of sunlight, and whether knowing only darkness has really affected their evolution so much as to give rise to those needle-toothed mouths and soulless eyes. It just seems rather a coincidence that the faces lurking 'down below' look so much like those gaping-mouthed entrances to hell, seen in medieavel paintings. This has troubled me for years, and I'd like to know the answer.

9
I wish Santa Claus would bring me the Gift of Selflessness this year. I heard recently that your personality stops developing at 30, which doesn't give me much time. See what I mean about Psychology putting stupid ideas in people's heads ?

10
I wish you all a happy Chrimbo and a peaceful New Year full of nice things.

LOL I meant moments, because there has to be more than one.

Psst, Pete, weird is good! In fact, not being weird is to be boring.
Being sad... yeah, I know, it's pants. But at least it makes us appreciate the happy moment.
