This the one meal I love cooking the most. I usually cook the Turkey the day before, because my lot like it cold on the day. So I cook it with an onion and an apple inside, and smokey bacon rashers covering the bird to stop it burning. Cook it slowly over a few hours mmmmm yummy.
On Christmas morning then I can get to grips with the veg which usually includes. Roast Parsnips, Sprouts, carrots and Peas. Good old Roast Potatoes which have been part boiled and salted, then roast gently. I make stuffing balls, with stuffing and sausage meat. Whilst thats all cooking and the gravy is smimmering made from the turkey juices and onions. I sit down with a glass of wine and watch the children open their presents. Then I can open mine. it is nice to have a happy time opening presents. Lunch is usually at around 1pm. All sitting at the table which has crackers and trimmings. It is the one meal we make sure we sit down together each year. After lunch comes the pudding if we have room and feel like it. Plus another glass of wine and coffee to follow whilst the children play.
Then time to fill the dishwasher and sit down for the movie. Sometimes we may even go for a walk to get some fresh air, and one year the children had bikes so they tried them out.
The rest of the day is sat in front of the TV, snacking and eating chocolates mmmmm. Tea time is usually help yourself buffet, and then by the end of the day I fall into bed. But what a great day.
