WebCams in generalNewest Review: ... with the webcam in general. They reqire a position on the top of the monitor, where they regularly fall off, they require the computer to be closer to the monitor because the cable's too short, and they are really slow. Think - at the VERY best, a download can get you 5 KBPS. Each webcam screenshot takes about 2 Kb. that equals, pushing it a lot, 3 frames a second. I bought the webcam hoping I could improve my sign language skills - no such luck. So, before you buy a webcam, think about the way you're going to use it. I wouldn't recommend thinking about one if you expect to be able to use it for conversations over the int... more |

After purchasing a webcam on the assurance it ran off the parallel port, i had to go and buy a USB card. Yeah - great. I wasn't that bothered at the time, webcams rock. Or so I thought. i recently purchased a dexxa web cam for just £20. The quality is fast and excellent and the web cam is very reliable. It has motion detection software and also the ability to record video e-mails and take pictures. This webcam is an exact copy of a logitec one which costs around £50. This product is excellent and is well worth the price. The webcam can be placed on top of your computer monitor and as well as looking good, it is good. I have many video confercances with friends and family and i find this device very useful.I really can't see any disadvantages of this product. Maybe the cheap price could make people think it is no good, but it is worth it. I would ... Read the complete review

Web Cams are increasing in popularity at the moment, with unmetered internet access sweeping the UK, users want more out of their PC and internet connection. What can a webcam give your internet experience? 4 features stand out… 1: Take Stills; like an ordinary digital camera, but on most webcams, you are limited by the length of the cable. 2: Web Cam communities ; what a webcam is designed for in my opinion, sign up for one of these (I have signed up for spotlife) and a picture of the image will be displayed on the WWW (refresh rates and privacy up to you), pure and innocent fun! 4: Video conferencing; see and talk to friends live, ... So you are looking for a web cam. Besides the more bizarre uses for a web cam you can use it for about two useful and non-gimmicky things: 1: Take snapshot stills using that camera as a poor-man’s stills camera. 2: Stream video in a conferencing session (such as NetMeeting). The following is all you should need to know to make and informed choice: >>Bandwidth<< The first consideration is that the major use for most people is video conferencing. Unfortunately video conferencing is quite bandwidth intensive. Which means that if you have a relatively slow connection such as a phone lined 56K modem you have going to have ... Learn what's a WebCam and how to set up one easily! The answer is quite simple: a Web page which hosts images or even live video streams served by a digital Camera attached to a computer. Thus, a WebCam. The WebCam technology has now become quite popular since first WebCams hit the World Wide Web. Back in the past only a few had the technology and the resources to keep a camera refreshing an image 24 hours a day and face up bandwidth consumption problems. Now, for less than $100 and an Internet dial-up connection, you can set up your own camera on the Internet. If you surf the Web (and more accurately, The Live WebCams Ring), ...
