What to Do With All The Leftover FoodNewest Review: ... ready washed little supermarket packets) * 2 tablespoons English mustard (or French if you like smooth and sleeky) * 4 ounces plain natural yoghurt * 1 tablespoon orange marmalade * 1 tablespoon cherry (or plum) jam * 1 pinchy little bit of salt * 1 pub measure (or capful) vodka * 1 shake of a bottle of light soy sauce (maybe 2, it depends how hard you shake) * Sesame oil (don't panic, they sell it at Tesco) and olive oil for frying Right, make the sauce first, as earlier on as you like because you can keep it in the fridge, but do remember to take it out a quarter of an hour or so before you want to eat, so it's nicely at room te... more |

I don't have turkey for Christmas dinner, I have beef. But um... well, I put it in sarnies! If you have a huge turkey and there's loads left over though, you can make a nice thing with it like this: SWEET AND SOUR TURKEY It won't matter if you've a hangover cos you serve the sauce cold! Not only is it easier and kinder on the Boxing Day Thumper that way, but you can also make and refrigerate in advance, but because somehow, in my mind, hot meat and cold sauce seems more Boxing Day Buffetish. I've no idea why, but it does. Anyway to make it you will need: * 1lb leftover turkey chopped into cubes (light or dark meat, no ... Read the complete review

The best way to get rid of your leftover Christmas turkey is to mail it to me as I love turkey. No seriously folks, I love turkey sandwiches on thick Hovis white bread with real butter, lots of cranberry sauce and a little salt, let sit for ten minutes in fridge and then serve witha glass of full cream milk. So mail it to me. Cranberry sauce leftovers optional. White meat only. Address on request. All turkey must be wrapped in bubblewrap and tin foil (no cling film please). Cheers, Locutus. ... Each year at Christmas, my partner insists that we buy a large (rather too large) selection of nuts, to put in a bowl for us to pick at. Now, I don't like any type of nut,( bar donuts!) and the kids don't like them either, so it is my partners job to try and finish a few thousand nuts of many different varieties. Needless to say, he can't complete the task and we are left with a multitude of nuts. I don't like to throw them away because we have paid money for them so I nicked a good little idea from my son's nursery teacher; 'bird balls'. You can buy these from pet shops and gardening centres but of course that is more money, and, ... Read the complete review

Let’s pretend that Christmas is over, and the recovery operation has begun. You’re all out of creative ideas for making that bird seem attractive. You’ve had turkey sandwiches, turkey and chips, cold turkey and turkey pie. You’re sick fed up of the sight of the stuff, there’s still a half-eaten carcass sitting in the fridge, and it’s only the day after Boxing Day!! Well, fear not my little dooyoo chums, I am here, with the Moomin’s guide to making your turkey last until next Christmas. I kid you not!! Here’s what you do: First, strip the carcass. (It’s very useful to have Mr Moomin around at this point, as ... Read the complete review

As we all know, after the jollities of Christmas have warn off, the advocaat has drained out of our system and the harsh reality of post festivities sets in we suddenly realise, upon opening the fridge, that we have about half a turkey carcass remaining. While wishing that we had picked a slightly smaller fowl, we desperately try to think of a way in which to utilise the remaining poultry. I get thoroughly bored of cold turkey and salad, turkey sandwiches etc, so here is a quick, easy and delicious alternative! Devilled meat.
