Are you usually left with loads of potatoes and veggies after the Christmas meal? Mix it all up the next day, melt some fat in a pan and slap in the mixture. Cook it until the underside is brown then turn over. Bubble and Squeak is just the nicest thing after the rich food of Christmas Day.

Cut some meat and put the bubble and squeak with it along with some beetroot, tomatoes, pickled onions etc. Absolutely delicious.

Never throw away food left on plates. At that time of the year the birds are in desperate need of feeding. If you do not have a garden take the food somewhere close to your home where the birds can get at it..somewhere discreet mind...don't just leave it on the pavement or anywhere like that. Dogs are good dustbins.

Turkey can be frozen and used at a later date in curries.
