Advantages: Quick, can do something else whilst cooking, saves on washing up

Disadvantages: None

Turkey curry. How many people will be having that on Boxing Day?

If you're like me, how many times have you tried to make rice in a pan, burned it, thrown the rice away (and sometimes the pan).

Well, why don't you try this method, it's quick, easy, not messy and saves on the washing up as you can serve the rice at the table in the same dish.

I normally use 1½ cups of rice (just use a teacup if you haven't got a proper measure) for 2 people.

Place the rice in a medium casserole dish cover with boiling water to about an inch above the rice, place in the microwave 'uncovered' on high power for about 12 mins.

When done put rice in a colander (obv one with small holes) and rinse under the cold tap to get all the starch out and to seperate the rice.

Put back into the casserole dish, 'cover' with clingfilm (I don't bother to pierce it) and cook for 3-4 mins.

That's it quick perfect rice with no pan watching!
