Advantages: milk + cookies - yummy

Disadvantages: kids baking? = MESSY!

I think the best thing is to let the kids help make up a big batch of cookies, and then leave some out for Santa, rather than just buying something. Shortbread is good.
Actually making something for Santa is something that kids will enjoy. You can make afghans, cookies, a slice of cake - anything that is simple enough for kids to make and that they can eat the rest of.

Milk goes well with cookies - although my Father used to convince us to put a beer out. But the drink is not so important, as long as you can see that Santa has partaken of his 'feast' the next morning!
