Advantages: Another tradition to make Christmas special, You get to eat em!
Disadvantages: What to give the reindeer, Get off on the wrong thing and you're stuck with it, Getting caught eating santa's goodies could start a domestic WW3!
As I have already started to get 'a few bits' (wrapping paper, lights etc.!) in for Christmas, I figured I may as well start the Christmas opinions too, and this seemed as good a place as any to start! I am at the interesting point where this is the first Christmas that my daughter will even vaguely remember, (she will be 3 by Christmas), and so the time has come to start laying down all those little rituals and traditions that will persist in our family Christmas for years to come! As I see it, there are a few ways to go on the 'what to leave out for santa' question; the traditional way, the please yourself way, the pc way and the miserable sod way! The traditional way. This way is basically going along the lines your parents went on. In my house, santa always benefitted from a glass of Irish whisky, a mince pie, and, of course, a carrot (or 12) for his poor hardworking reindeer! If the reindeer were really lucky, and a hay lorry or clumsy farmer had happened to drop some hay in the lane, they had some of that too...Now this is all fine, but I don't actually like either mince pies or whisky, and my partner doesn't like whisky, and so santa may just have to adjust his taste a little....possibly the following would be better... The Please Yourself Way Ummm, this way involves deciding that santa really is partial to a baileys and a box of chocolates in my case, or in yours, whatever your favourite christmas type treats are...now this method does have a certain appeal, and at the moment is the front runner in my mind! The PC way The PC or politically correct way might be a bit boring, but its an option so I thought I'd throw it in. This method takes into account that you shouldn't drink and drive a sleigh, and that too much sweet or rich food is bad for you...if using this method, a glass of juice and a cereal bar is probably a reasonable 'treat' for santa
, although I'm not sure it would be the fun loving jovial old bloke's first choice! The Miserable Sod Way There are always going to be a few people out there who won't leave anything out for santa, like, say, old Ebeneezer Scrooge...! Not my choice at all, but nothing is an option, and I wanted to cover as many as I could! So there you have it. A variety of methods to use to make this very important decision of the festive season! My fave is number two, but we do live in a free country, so make your choice! And, I know its early, but considering what this opinion is about, 'Merry Christmas Everyone'!!
