For the last couple of weeks I have found dooyoo very slow. The homepage has loaded up fine but once you click into an opinion to read the computer soon makes an awful crashing noise and it takes anything upto 15 minutes to complete rating just one opinion. I have also found my computer crashing on me more in the last couple of weeks than ever before. None of us all like banners popping up on us but we all accept that for dooyoo to survive then they need to advertise products for companies. But I do find that when you load up to dooyoo a few seconds later the banners pop out and therefore somehow interfere with the site causing it to slow down. I have installed pop-up-stopper as recommended by auldmac but instead I find the site has gone even slower. Yes, the banners don’t pop up but instead the site is slower. I can’t help but feel this is due to all the banners and advertisements on dooyoo. I don’t actually mind dooyoo banners. Like the 1571 that has just appeared. I never knew about the service offered by BT and will be using it. One of the problems that we have in our household is that our phone is constantly engaged so we have friend and family complaining, so this service will helps. And the good thing about that banner is that it does go after a bit. Which brings me to my next qualm. When you log onto dooyoo this window pops up about web pages, if you close it by clicking on the ‘X’ on the window it comes back up a few minutes later. I don’t mind the window opening but I do not see the point of it. It doesn’t advertise anything, if it does the message isn’t clear and it wants you to sign up, which for me means distraction from dooyoo. And when dooyoo is busy which is most of the time having two windows open can really slow down you computer. I did use pop-up-stopper but since I have uninstalled that programme I am experiencing problems with this particular w
indow. So now before I log into dooyoo I switch the computer on and off through the correct procedure three times and I minimise the pops that cause me problems. For the last couple of days I have been able to rate and read effectively on dooyoo which has been a relief. You may thing it may be my computer but the other sites that don’t have banners/windows popping out the navigation is excellent. Back to the banners…….I did like the idea a month or so a go when you could chose which banners you could have displayed. It meant the banners became more interesting. And the Nokia banner was a great help because I have a Nokia mobile but it too refused to be closed and kept reappearing. Last Xmas we had the infamous bright Argos banner. I personally thing that was the most effective because I still remember it and the slogan. Overall the banners are fine and I support them 100%. But, I think there are too many of them which is slowing the site down. Installing pop-up-stopper didn’t help and I have since uninstalled it. Things are getting faster for me at dooyoo but not like it was a year ago.

auldmac - 03/12/01 Hi wad, Good op as always.
The site does seem to be running slower but I doubt that it has anything to do with the new genie pop up ad.
This is a more simple type of pop up.
All you need to do is NOT close it but simply run it 'minimised' and it will be happy just to run in your tray and not keep on popping up.
all the best to you and sis,
auldmac and GG xx |
