"All I can say is that I am glad to be out of Darwen and Blackburn. All I have had is misery so I am glad to be living in somewhere like Mexico." Perhaps they're regretting putting a guestbook on the site, now. But surely Blackburn isn't that bad? There are some nice parks, lots of flashy homes in the suburbs, and... some other interesting stuff. There's a good football team, a big and skaty ice arena, and one of the country's first Unitary Council Authorities. What do those big words mean? If the local 'paper hasn't been lying to me, it's got something to do with Blackburn with Darwen separating from Lancashire County ...

With a white background and a few pale green boxes, the home page of the official Blackburn with Darwen Council Web Site has not too long ago undergone a facelift in spite of the declared ‘last updated on 25/08/1999’ statement. Methinks that it should read 2000. To some it may seem a bit bleak but it is uncluttered with icon and text links to various pages for information about the town and the Council. It is not the prettiest of web sites but at least it is clear and unambiguous, which is more than can be said of the politics of the town. Probably the two most used links will be the Site Map and Guest Book which has entries from all over ...
