Advantages: None if you have not got a BT line
Disadvantages: Unfair competition
I had better be careful what I say but every time I see one of BT's adverts I could scream! They look such a brilliant option and I am one of the people who used them for about 18 months until 1 April when I could no longer get access. I was quite happy with their service and their charges. I knew that I could not have BT Anytime as you need a BT line which I have not got. But I was led to believe that Pay as You Go was an option and I would have settled for this rather than have to change my e-mail addresses. I wasted so much time trying to join up again – all to no avail. No BT line no BT - my telephone provider is Eurobell and BT have barred them from accessing their Internet server. Smacks of a monopoly to me - I thought we had to have a level playing field these days but some are more bumpy than others. I think that BT should be made to display prominently on their adverts that none BT customers are not welcome. This also happens with Freeserve - again a BT line is essential.

- 29/04/01 I havent had any probs with BT so far, but I understand why you think of the monopoly idea. In fact the Monopolies and Mergers Commission kept warning BT and ordering them to lower prices and make services more accessible cos they were making too much money and holding a monopoly on all their services, something like that.
