Burnley Borough Council

What good are local councils?they dont control the police,schools,buses,refuse collection or anything which would need a modicum of intellect.The only apparent power is over the planning permission and car park charges,and both of these issues can be overidden by the home secretary.So what i say is ,if we do not need them , why do we have to pay a large poll tax to support something we can do without?Our local council do very little for the town ,which is run down ,underfunded and lacking amenities and services,but they do have a fabulous town hall ,mayoral limosine and a well paid bunch (is that the right word?)of local councilors.Get rid of them ,and use the money to ...  Read the complete review
