Advantages: Banner ads excellent, Targeted pretty well, The Nokia game isn't that bad
Disadvantages: Could be targeted a little better though , Pop-Ups are horrible, Nokia game has become implanted in my head too much, please make it stop
I have been moved to write in this category by the extremely annoying pop up that has been employed on the site to advertise Nokia; more specifically 'The Nokia game'. The premise of the game is decent the prize is a mobile phone apparently - I am soooo excited. I am not here to discuss the merits of the Nokia game though; more the adverts are annoying when they pop up on every single page you go to. I understand the pop ups are employed for revenue reasons, and Nokia probably pay extremely well, so I can't complain too much about them. I do however believe it would be much more bearable if Dooyoo could do a deal with several different companies so that they could rotate the pop ups every time you log on. Technically I don't believe there is any reason why this couldn't happen, it would certainly be a bit more interesting. Banner advertisements I fully endorse, and have absolutely no problems with them. They are usually chosen extremely well and choose the preferences I specified perfectly. Indeed I have purchased by using these links, and a friend also purchased by clicking thru on one of them; so they do work! The best way Dooyoo can get revenue in my opinion is by continuing to find out about the users tastes - I would approve of questionnaires being sent out via email or to fill in via the net to find out more about my likes and dislikes to further allow you to find out about me. I also wouldn't mind not being paid for this info as long as it helps Dooyoo to further target adverts. This brings me onto the Skopos thingy-me-jig, I have filled this in, and on occasion the pop up for this still appears on screen inviting me to fill it in again and again. This isn't too bad though; I can certainly live with this. So Dooyoo please try to drop the pop-ups or at least try to change them a little. I did consider using Pop Up Stopper (to stop them appearing) but that would be de
feating the object of you using pop ups if everyone decided to block them! Sadly people do though. That is another reason why Banners are the way to go, you can't help but see a well-placed banner. Dooyoo's banners are well placed and unobtrusive, they get big thumbs up from me, just do us a favour and drop the pop-ups before my head implodes.

- 01/11/01 Well done! It had to be said. it is driving me mad. Some pop ups you can ignore by minimising, but this one keeps coming to the front and stopping me typing - ugh!! Nominated for a crown too. |
