I visited the site earlier this evening, as soon as I read my first op, up it pops! The NOKIA game pop up ad! I closed it, carried on my merry way, and every time a new page loaded it appeared again :-(

Not only is it irritating in the extreme, it has slowed down the site significantly. Whenever you click a link, it takes ages to load, I believe it is due to the fact that is it having to load the graphic for this pesky pop up ad.

Yesterday I got a pop up saying "Let Dooyoo get to know you", ok, I decided to play. I filled in the questionaire and one of the questions asked was what type of web ads I would respond to, in my answer I indicated that pop ups were a definite no no for me.

I just hate them, I close them as soon as I can, yet they appear on each new page.

In fact when I started to write this op, yes, you guessed it, it appeared again.

Now I know that Dooyoo have to advertise, otherwise the site would not exist, but I would far rather have a survey to complete once a week, than to have to put up with this sort of irritant!

Dooyoo is an up to date web site, and I am pretty sure that the powers that be are well aware of the nuisance these ads cause, so why use them?

There are other, more sophisticated ways of attracting customers to a product. They do not have to insult our intelligence.

A nice banner ad with a short written script, extoling the virtues of this (or that!) would be just as effective, less annoying, and I for one would be more likely to click on the link just out of curiosity.

Another way to encourage members to respond to ads would be to place them on a members account page, I think members would be more likely to show an interest if they are NOT in the middle of reading someones opinion.

C'mon Dooyoo, banner ads with flashing lights are better than this. Or is this a deliberate ploy to slow us down with our reading of ops etc??

Good rant.
Things are improving but it's still annoying. Roll on November 3rd when the 'game' actually starts then the ads should stop, shouldn't they? Please.

Right you are. Not that I've considered byuing something from NOKIA, but even if I had, this constant pop up would put me off! - I've found you via writtenbyme, where you commented on my op on patriotism, thanks. It's an op I've posted here first, in fact written for this community, I really prefer and love dooyoo; writtenbyme is rather impersonal, don't you think? Don't really know why I keep on posting there. Cheers, Malu
