Advantages: Keeps Dooyoo running

Disadvantages: Those damn banners with sound

Advertising it what pays the bills, it's a fact. Without it we'd have fewer TV channels to watch, fewer radio stations and now fewer websites. Having browsed several other opinions on this subject it seems that the general consensus is that advertising is a bit of a pain in ass.

However it also seems that it's the nature of some of these adverts that get's up peoples noses. Right now I am looking at a simple animatd banner for Ladbrokes Casino, it's not doing any harm apart from creating some movement on the screen. However it's not moving about the screen obscurung what you're trying to read. These are the worst kind of adverts, the one that blantantly put themselves over what you're trying to look at. I'm glad Dooyoo don't seem to have adopted this policy yet. I'm sure that if they did then a lot of users would simply not bother to come here. Simple banner adverts are perfectly acceptable, animation should be fine and not bother most users.

However I have been on here before and browsed when suddenly I would be inturrupted at regular intervals by the sound of a such quacking. This is just plain annoying, not only doesn it give you a near heart attack the first time around but it tem get's in the way of any other audio you may be trying to listen to through your pc. I believe the advertising in question was for First Direct. Well I'm here to say that this is the the king of banner advertising on Dooyoo that should be stamped. There's nothing worse than unwanted inturruption when you're trying to write an opinion.

The pop-up ads are also another annoying thing but one I can normally live with. There are ways to stop them but this will only mean that in the future advertisers will concentrate on more direct and annoying ways to flog their products to us over the web. I feel you're best to let it pop up and then be removed. After all it's this advertising which has a large
hand in keeping sites like this running. As long as people are happy to advertise here then I'm happy to at least look once or twice if it means that we can keep a site like Dooyoo.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for Dooyoo to offer some form of online poll for it's users to find out what kind of advertising they are prepared to put up with. This would be a far more direct way of communication for everybody rather than just opinions when the whole of the user community may not be inclined to write about it.

Let's face it advertising on the site with it's manner of banners is here to stay, that's just the way of the web.

The ones I hate above all are the ones that play sounds. How the hell am I supposed to get away with the odd sneaky visit to Dooyoo at work if my PC insists on announcing it to the rest of the office???

(And yes, I do know I could always turn the sound off...)

I hate pop ups but I like the 3ps. I know lots of people complain about the adverts on here, but how many bother to click on anything at least once per visit to help dooyoo pay for all those cheques and amazon vouchers? It only takes a second.

Banners & pop ups suck but these sites consider 'em essential (sadly)
