This is a review about Liverpool City Council as a whole, not so much the council website. I lived in Liverpool from 1999 - 2002 and I moved back again a few years ago and have been living here since 2007. I think the council has improved since 99-02, however there are still many undyling problems that the council has failed to tackle. On the surface of things the council is great. During the capital of culture year the city centre has vastly improved with new swanky apartments being built, a new shopping complex called Liverpool One and lots of free and exciting events. As a resident of Liverpool I'm going to concentrate my review on their services with some observations of their website. Politics aside - Liverpool City Council have improved dramatically over the last number of years. A lot of this was happening even before the City was granted the status of Capital Culture but this also helped too. Liverpool has literally been rebuilt over the last few years, causing much inconvenience for its public, but it has been well worth it. The council have done a great job. A promising start for this new website. I was impressed by the option to choose a language until I chose that option! The choices were poor (Arabic, Bengali, Chinese or Somali), I would have liked to see a couple of European languages here. For surfers with visual disabilities there is an option to amend the text size but I found the instructions hard to locate as choosing the option took me to a help file that included lots of other info - a proper 'click link' would have been better. On the plus side, the Liverpool skyline banner is impressive, I could look at that for hours!
