Advantages: Polite and considerate

Disadvantages: Sometimes a little under resourced.

We have moved into the 'District NK' area as it is now branded, a little over 12 months ago. With it being our first house together we were a little slow on the uptake and got behind with things such as council tax and other necessary council related forms. Fortunatley when we did get around to sorting such things out the guys at North Kesteven were ever so understanding, they helped talk us through the stages we needed to take, how we needed to pay and all of those sort of things. They even let us set up our payment schedule on Council Tax to account for our later start on payments, rather than just demanding it all up front. Something that was very useful indeed.

Refuse collections are fortnightly. One week they take the black and green bins (non recyclable for black, glass, paper, card, plastic etc for green) and the next they take the brown 'compost bin'. Suffice to say we're amazed how much we can recycle under North Kesteven, we rarely put anything into our black bin at all which makes us feel a lot better!

We had some noise trouble with our neighbours in our previous address which lead to the council becoming involved and they were keen to help, even if the systems were a bit lengthy, my only complaint here was the six month wait we would have for sound monitoring equipment, which frankly made the whole situation a bit of a joke.

Fortunately we've not had much other direct involvement with the council, but we do notice that the roads are generally quite well maintained, especially given the harsh winter we've had where the roads have cracked a lot due to the constant freezing and refreezing of ice, something that I as a motorcyclist definitely notice. Top marks on that (even if they could do with fully relaying a road now and again instead of patching it up)

Summary: Overall a very pleasant council to deal with.
