The Nottinghamshire County Council website is certainly a very comprehensive and well put together site. The most impressive feature of the whole site is the speed that any page loads up. Often the resources put into a local authority site are limited and the speed of the site can be very frustrating, this is not the case with Notts CC. Although the site does use navigation buttons, most of the links are by hyperlinks within the text content on any page. This makes the site very easy to use for anyone that only has a limited knowledge of using the Internet. The Home Page has a list of about twenty items, each of which is a link to another ... Local Authorities cover such a wide range of services, and provide them to all sectors of the community, so it is a difficult task to get the message across. On the one hand users may be experienced business people used to ploughing their way through jargon to get to the particular bits of local authority regulations that apply to their inward investment strategy. On the other you may have a pregnant teenager with a learning disability desperately searching for help with rent arrears.
