Advantages: none Disadvantages: very disadvantaged area
Originally from East Lothian, I moved to the Borders 12 years ago. During that period I required assistance for housing as I left my violent husband and taking my 3 children with me. I was eventually allocated a homeless accomodation (after a month staying in over-crowded conditions, with friends and their family) and then a HA house after another month. There are few facilities for domestic violence within the area - in fact even the main police HQ is based at Hawick. I lived in fear for 4 years with no assistance and eventually became very depressed and socially phobic. Summary: |
