Advantages: Emailing council workers for advice
Disadvantages: misleading for potential visitors to the area
Well, the first impression, from their homepage, is quite amateurish. The address to contact them or call them isn't laid out well, and the page is sparse and basic. The links lead to a limited choice to start with, and I wasn't sure if I was going to find what I needed there. Now, after clicking on residents I am treated with a few paragraphs about how brilliant Stirling is, and it's won awards you know!! BUT, here they are referring to Stirling district, which is mostly outlying villages, which are usually very pretty and quiet. Stirling town on the other hand is NOT: known for it's- scenic beauty, cleanliness, schools, low crime, employment and "Quality of Life". It really makes me laugh. This site is trying to sell Stirling in the same was that the tourist board only shows footage of the fields behind the castle in advertisements. So misleading. Stirling town is not nice to live in or near. Back to the services on the site. The simple list of links in the left frame that has appeared is useful. I managed to get the email address and phone no. for my councillors, concerning different subjects. You have to know to choose "services" from the frame to get anywhere though. In the "latest news" area, which they boast is updated daily, there is nothing displayed. You have to pick a link from a new frame that changed unexpectadly. Not good for people new to computers. I would say that the main thing that would improve the site would be access to housing information for local people on their waiting list. There is useful information about council tax changes and residents surveys (if you have acrobat reader), and also a list of jobs available within the council services. Not a bad first attempt, but we need more facilities. Less boasts and more service please!
