Nowadays everyone seems to hate their local council. However i only have praise for my local council- Swindon. I believe their waste and recycling service to be one of the best in the country. We recently had wheelie bins introduced and like most people i wasn`t very welcoming. However since the bins were introduced our street looks much cleaner- the bin is always emptied and put back where it was left. This is same for the recycling boxes.

The grass around my area is cut regularly, and the trees are pruned back. We once had graffiti on one of the street signs- i reported this to the council and it was re-painted in 4 days!

I use the central library often and they always have the books i need in stock. The search system is comprehensive and upto date. Staff are friendly and helpful. if i ever have any queries, i ring the council hotline where my call is answered quickly. I cannot fault my dealings with Swindon council- to a job well done! :)
