Update 21-4-01

To all those dooyooers I upset by my previously self indulgent Op - please accept my apologies. My only excuse was the profound frustration at not being able to access the site ( not for the first time) and missing an opportunity to plug this beautiful area of South Devon.
Tonight I have succeeded in connecting to the site and I wish I could say that it’s really exciting and colourful as a primary holiday resort should be, but I can’t. There is a main menu on the left hand side giving you various options - starting with -
The Council. This takes you into a sub menu detailing how the council works etc and it’s budget - the area covered and the number of people it serves ( being one of those it is not known for it’s service I can tell you ).
The English Riviera. That is the second category and again goes to a sub menu detailing the different types of accommodation, the difference between the three towns, different type of holidays available etc. but there are so few photos. Everyone knows that a picture paints a thousand words and this is such a beautiful area that I feel that the local authority has missed a golden opportunity.
Family Holidays is next on the list and is pretty self explanatory but again the inclusion of pictures of kids having different sorts of fun would have brought it to life. There are loads of people out there who just need to have that little seed of excitement or wonderment put in their minds and its – “ like the look of that – shall we go ?”.

The Council do not appear to have grasped the fact that if tourism dies the Bay will die with it. Much more promotion must be done and I feel that a website should be the modern way of finding out about an area – it should replace the old guide books and give you the information you are looking for – quickly, accurately and it should be exciting – so many sites are these days.

>I won’t go on detailing the whole menu – that would also bore you to death but I would add that this is a lovely part of the world, magnificent scenery from sea to moor. Sandy beaches and rugged cliffs ; palm trees waving in the breeze – it’s great.
It is ideal for families and couples but if you are looking for the noise and nightlife of Las Americas or Ibiza – forget it , please!

Having been in the holiday trade in the past I found that most of our guests wanted a relaxing holiday, value for money, fresh air and places to go if the weather was not too good. You will find that here in Torbay and, if you come I sincerely hope you fall in love with the area and return again and again. We want you and we need you.
