At the end of this pencil is a band of purple to show the colour you are buying this makes it easier in the shop when buying so that you know if you have the right colour or not. As soon as I bought this I was desperate to try it on and see if it was really good. I took off the lid and the pencil was just at the right point. I applied it and at first no colour but you have to keep going over the line for a while until you really notice the darker line. It is not obviously purple but it does look like a dark colour.
