Advantages: Excellent Hold, Not too pricy, Smell :)
Disadvantages: Goes hand in hand with yanked back painful hairstyles....
I grew up in pain. Maybe not quite true, but a good enough start none the less. Basically as some of you may know, for years I did gymnastics competitions and dancing festivals, both of these requiring ridiculous getups and perfect hair. I used to have short hair, so pulling it into a French plait took some effort. Even as it grew longer, it remained unruly and could be difficult to control, but this is where this Gel Spray came in. I hate having sticky stuff on my hands, so having normal gel could be a pain due to the method of application. Hairspray, although solving the sticky problem, had the additional disadvantage that it made my hair hard, and could be hard to brush out. Gel Spray seemed like the solution. I say “seemed” but really I had little choice in the matter to start with, as my hair was being done for me. One of my coaches covered me with this one day, and it worked so well that years later when I was only dancing and always doing my own hair, I invested in some. So first, some facty things : ~~~~ Directions ~~~~ Spray using short even bursts on freshly washed towel dried hair, and style as desired. Not too difficult then. It’s easy to brush your hair after spraying it, so styling isn’t a problem as with some lacquer / hair sprays. ~~~~ Ingredients ~~~~ Alcohol Denat Butyl Ester Aminomenthly (minty proteins??) Propanol Ok, know what exactly zero of these are…. ~~~~ Does It Work ? ~~~~ In a word, yes. It would keep every whisper of hair in position from warm-ups to medal ceremonies, even after numerous somersaults or pirouettes and was still easy enough to brush out when we got home. It has the best hold out of anything I have ever tried, hence the fact I still use it. It’s great on my thick hair, but works equally well for thin haired types as so many of my friends at gym / dancing were.
~~~ Price Stuff ~~~~ At £3.50 for a 200ml bottle it’s not really that bad – especially since it last for aged. I still have the bottle I bought 4 years ago, and as long as I do as they suggest and rinse the spray head in warm water occasionally to stop the pump becoming blocked, it works fine. ~~~~ About The Title ~~~~ The first time I used this, I won my category, so it holds some special memories for me in that sense. There is a distinctive smell, and when I get a whiff of it, stupid as this may sound, it helps me push myself further at whatever I’m doing. Because of this I’ve started using it when I got to the gym – I’m getting knackered, I toss my hair and suddenly I’m re-energized. Stop laughing. I mean it. Stop it right now. It works for me, so ner!
