A good probing will cure all ills!! (Ayurveda)
Member Name: sheehawkins
Advantages: might work without the need for modern medicines and their side effects Disadvantages: too invasive for my liking
Ayurvedic medicine is a traditional Indian system of Medicine. The word Ayurveda comes from two Sanskrit words –Ayur means life and veda means knowledge. Ayurveda relies more on preventing illnesses before they occur than treating them once they have manifested themselves. The patient keeps in close contact with his practitioner who monitors every thing about the patient – his diet, sex life, conditions at home and at work right down to the choice of spouse. He can then advise changes when necessary. If an illnes does occur then it is treated with one of almost 8000 remedies. It is particularly succesful for conditions brought on or aggravated by stress such as eczema, indigestion, or ulcers. The treatment is divided up into three categories; medicinal remedies made from natural substances such as herbs, vegetables or minerals, Dietary regimes, or practical aids such as massage, yoga etc. I did consult an ayurvedic practitioner, but found that the questions he asked were too personal for my liking, and were more likely to cause me stress than cure it.
