Advantages: There's something for everyone and they products actually work!
Disadvantages: Can be expensive and not enough shades for foundations/powders
I was first drawn to Benefit by the colourful, retro 50s inspired counter in Boots one day when shopping but I was quickly put off as soon I saw the prices. However not long after this I received a free gift in Glamour magazine, I think they do this once every year with a choice of three products and I usually end up buying the magazine 3 times when this happens to collect all the freebees! I definitely consider myself to be a Benefit junkie, most items in my make up bag are from Benefit and most of them are ones I swear by and use almost everyday (Boi-ing, Eraste Paste, POREfessional, BADgal liner and a mix of High Beam and Posietint) I do own some others, a lot of them being the freebees from Glamour magazine, which has saved me a lot of money!
First of all I am in love with the actual look and design of Benefit, its all retro/vintage and cute and so so colourful, at first I thought this could just be a ploy to make you buy their stuff or that this what you were mainly paying for but was I soooo wrong! Every product has its own unique design and packaging that makes it feel extra special to use that makes you feel special yourself. I also love the quirky and often funny play-on-word names they give their products, making them even more exciting, fun and unique than most other make up brands. Some of my favourites include 'Get Bent,' 'Get Even,' 'POREfessional' and 'Mr Bright.'
Another huge reason I love benefit so much is because most of their products aren't just shades or types of different makeup they are usually made to help target beauty problems for example the 'POREfessional' to target oily skin and large pores, 'Lemon-Aid' which helps reduce redness and puffiness around the eyes or 'Erase-Paste' that erases and brightens dark circles under your eyes. This is great because so many other brands just produce shades upon shades of different products which can be fun but don't actually help you with those parts you really need help with!
Benefit have also created little beauty kits such as 'Confessions of a Concealaholic' for problematic skin or just general coverage, 'Smokin' eyes' which contains everything you need to create the smokey eye look and 'Brows a GoGo' for the perfect pair or brows. I think these kits are amazing because you get to try out up to 5 or 6 of Benefits products at one time meaning you save money by getting to work out what products are best suited to you (especially 'Confessions of a Concealaholic' and 'Finding Mr Bright'). They make a great gift and are great way to introduce people to Benefit who haven't tried their products before and they are also very good value for money as they cost as much as buying one and a half of the products would.
Which brings me onto the prices of Benefits makeup which I know puts so many people off. I personally think the prices are very fair for most products (I'm a poor student too!), they are expensive but they actually do work and they work well so you aren't wasting money, especially if they are items you use everyday and even then they last for months! I think the best places to buy Benefit are Debenhams and Boots which both offer a loyalty card and when buying straight from a Benefit counter you are often given free samples. Every one of my friends own at least one benefit product and I think every girl who loves make up should because even though not everything works for everyone there is always something that does and when you find, it's most definitely worth it!
I have reviewed a fair few of Benefits products on here if you want to check them out :)
Summary: Every one needs to own at least one Benefit product!
