Advantages: Smells delicious, Leaves skin feeling softer and smoother
Disadvantages: Only available from Boots
Now that Christmas is out of the way and the presents have found their new homes I am slowly starting to make my way through the various bottles of bubble baths and shower creams etc that I received as presents. Funnily enough, there was a time when I wasn't very interested in receiving bath and shower products as I had my favourites and wasn't that bothered about changing - however, since I've become involved with opinionating I am now more than happy to try new products, if only so that I can share my findings with my fellow opinionaters. The first present I have chosen to write about was a gift I received from a my best friend. The product is Boots Natural Collection Blackberry and Raspberry Yoghurt Shower Cream. I have to confess that I was rather taken with this product before I'd even tried it, because is packaged in a transparent plastic container which enables you to view the colour of the product - which is a beautiful shade of pinky lilac. I'm sure that by now most of you know how much I love lilac - most things that are lilac I will love just because of their colour - however, there have been exceptions, but I'm pleased to say that this isn't one of them. As previously mentioned, the shower cream is packaged in a clear, 250ml sized, plastic bottle - the bottle has a detachable lid which when removed provides access to the shower cream, which is dispensed by holding the container upside down and gently squeezing the bottle, this allows you to be as generous or as stingy as you like with the product as you can either settle for one small squeeze, (which incidentally lathers up very well and provides more than enough shower cream to adequately wash the entire body), or you can be more extravagant like me and give the bottle a couple of good squeezes to ensure that you have loads of shower cream on your sponge. The bottle is well designed as the lid has a hook shaped handle attach
ed to it making it easy to store by hanging from your shower, especially useful if you don't have a lot of shelving within your bathroom. The front of the bottle has a rather bizarre picture of a female riding on a big, juicy looking blackberry and a male riding on a more slender looking raspberry, beneath which, in black text, you will find the product fragrance and description, in this case Blackberry & Raspberry Yoghurt Shower Cream. The reverse of the bottle contains the usual list of ingredients, directions for use and the following description about the product. "Have a break! Relax as the luscious scent of blackberry and raspberry blended with deliciously creamy yoghurt provides refuge from the challenge of the day." The product description certainly sold the product to me and having read it, I couldn't wait to step into a nice relaxing shower to try it out. So far so good - but is it really as good as it sounds. Well in my opinion definitely yes. Immediately you remove the lid and squeeze the product onto a damp sponge ready to use, the sweet aroma created by the blackberry and raspberry combination is apparent. It has a very sweet fragrance and the product name does it justice, unlike some products that don't smell remotely like their fragrance suggests, this product smells exactly like blackberry and raspberry yoghurt and the similarities don't stop there, the product is of the same creamy consistency and smooth texture as a yoghurt. The product smells good enough to eat - although I'm sure you'd get a nasty surprise if your tasted it! Only a small amount of shower cream is required to obtain a good lather, enough to wash your entire body with, therefore the product is likely to last for a considerable time. After using this product I have noticed an good improvement in the general condition of my skin, it now feels considerably softer and sm
oother than it did before when I was just used ordinary shower gel, not cream, products and as an added bonus it leaves my skin with a pleasant, light, fruity scent. I believe that there are other fragrances available within the shower cream range but I'm not sure what they are. Boots have also created other products to compliment the shower creams, again I'm not sure exactly what products are available but the shower cream bottle advises that there is a Blackberry & Raspberry Yoghurt Body Cream which can be used if you want to continue the experience. As I received this product as a gift I am not sure how much it cost but believe that it retails for approximately £2.50 - £3.00. The Natural Collection products are often available as 3 for the price of 2 or buy one get one free though so it is definitely worth keeping an eye out for these offers and stocking up when they become available. This is the by far the best shower cream/gel product that I have tried in a long time and when I have finished this bottle I will definitely be going back to Boots to check out the other products available in the range. Thank you for reading. Julie
