Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) The essential oil extracted from Marigolds is known as Calendula essential oil. Do not confuse Marigold (Calendula Officinalis) with African Marigold (Tagetes) which is toxic. Marigold oil is not widely available as the bright orange flowers of the common pot marigold yield only small amount of oil. More common is infused oil of Calendula, where the flowers are infused in warm oil, macerated, and strained to produce a warm, gold coloured and very therapeutic oil. My 10 month old daughter suffers from mild infantile excema. When this was diagnosed she was prescribed with hydrocorsitine oitment. I mentioned this to my mother who also suffers from excema, she was wuite alarmed that it ahd been prescribed before anything else had been tried. She told me that hydrocorsitine can thin the skin so obviously I wanted to try something else first. i was recommended calendula cream as a remedy for skin complaints, after two applications the dry skin had gone and has barely come back!! i sometimes put a bit on after her bath and this has kept the excema away. I thoroughly recommend using this before you resort to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Calendula: miracle healing cream (128 words)

Calendula or the marigold as it is more commonly known has been used for hundreds of years in medicines. A herbal recipe that has been handed down through the generations of my family suggests that the dried flowers of a marigold should be added to a broth to comfort the heart and spirit and to expel any malignant quality which might annoy them. Today Calendula is most commonly used in a homeopathic preparation to heal wounds and cuts. You can either use a cream applied to the actual wound, or a tablet or tincture taken internally. Calendula should be an essential part of your medicine cabinet if you have children – used on clean cuts and grazes it will quickly ...  Read the complete review
