Advantages: Natural cure for minor skin conditions

Disadvantages: None come to mind

My 10 month old daughter suffers from mild infantile excema. When this was diagnosed she was prescribed with hydrocorsitine oitment. I mentioned this to my mother who also suffers from excema, she was wuite alarmed that it ahd been prescribed before anything else had been tried. She told me that hydrocorsitine can thin the skin so obviously I wanted to try something else first.

i was recommended calendula cream as a remedy for skin complaints, after two applications the dry skin had gone and has barely come back!!

i sometimes put a bit on after her bath and this has kept the excema away.

I thoroughly recommend using this before you resort to the more drastic hydrocorsitine ointment.

Calendula cream is indeed a great alternative to cortisone. Where eczema is a problem, however, all calendula creams are very definitely not equal, especially since they've become more 'mainstream'. Sometimes the active ingredients are contained in a base which may, in itself, exacerbate the eczema; sometimes the calendula is not present in sufficient quantities to have an effect. As ever, check the label and buy a reputable brand (I'd recommend Weleda)
