My wife was promised an 85% cure for chonic back pain from 15 treatmentsd for which I paid £400 in advance.

She was in pain afterwards and changed her mind. I was unable to get a refund for the course that had not been delivered.

However she changed her mind and started the course. She found some relief from the treatment. We will have to see how effective it is after the 15 week course. She found the pracitioner to be pleasant and skilled in her massage technique.

The research I have seen either finds that acupuncture is ineffective in treating arthritic conditions, or in other trials is said to have helped with back pain more than placebo (her pain is partly arthritic). The positive trials are published in complementary treatment journals so could be somewhat subjective.

I would advise caution regarding the use of the word 'cure' and to pay for one treatement at a time as it is their policy not to refund if you change your mind on pre-paid treatments.

Summary: TRY IT BUT DON'T PAY IN ADVANCE IN CASE IT DOES NOT HELP
