I have decided to write an opinion on Actimel by Danone. Have you seen the advert on the television of the pretty lady with the very fit body. Well that is me and I have only been drinking it for a couple of months!!. Okay that is not entirely true, but I do feel much better for drinking them.

Let me just bore you for a few moments to tell you how this drink has benefited me. Well after having my second child I discovered that I kept having sore throats and a feeling that something was always lodged in the back of my throat. After several doctors and specialists’ appointments and loads of tests carried out over a period of a year they found out that I now suffer from a condition called Reflux Oesophagitis. It’s a condition that is linked to the stomach. The stomach is protected from acid but the Oesophagus is not. Therefore when acid is brought up into the mouth it burns the area. Most women have suffered this throughout pregnancy and this should go away once the pregnancy is over. Once diagnosed I was prescribed some tablets called Zoton Lansoprazole which helps relieve the symptoms for both throat and stomach ailments.

Not being very happy taking pills every day I decided to try Actimel. Actimel is called a Probiotic food, which is a fermented milk containing lactobacillus, bulgaricus, streptococcus and thermophilus ( no idea what they are, me neither they sound more like dinosaurs to me. Anyway the idea of the drink is its basically similar to yoghurt which is known for its beneficial effects on lactose intolerance. Studies have shown that by drinking Actimel it helps improve the defence and immune system.

The consistency is similar to yoghurts only a bit thinner. It is white in colour and tastes a little like natural yoghurt.

They recommend that you drink one bottle 100g a day and over a period of time you will notice the benefits. I noticed the difference within a couple of weeks and now I have st
opped taking the tablets daily and only take them when I need to.

** Safety **

It contains lactic acid bacteria, which has been consumed in fermented foods since the beginning of civilisations. Apparently our intestines contains billions of similar organisms.

** Price **

This product does come highly recommended by me although the price is its downfall. You can buy them in a pack of eight 100g bottles for the price of £2.39. They come in original or orange flavour. I do feel that if they really want to make this product their top seller they do need to at least half the price, as most people will just stick to buying yoghurts.
