Disadvantages: Can be a bit messy, Have to wait about 15 minutes, Soemtimes have to reapply
Hair! You either love it or hate it. Strange concept isn’t it? The amount we spend on having the hair on our head cut, the money we pay out for razors for removing unwanted hair in other places (facial hair for men and leg and underarm hair for women – or the other way around, who knows, I won’t assume anything!). But, for some of us of the ‘fairer’ sex (ok, now that you’ve stopped laughing, I’ll resume), other unwanted hair can be more than a nightmare. Like facial hair! I hate it. A few years ago, I started to notice that I was getting a few stray hairs on my chin. Agghhhhhhhh! I was turning into a man! And it got worse. Partly because I used to pull them out, dreading that one morning I might wake up with a fully-grown beard. Ok, so I was being extreme, but to any woman getting facial hair it is not a laughing matter. So, I tried Louis Marcell’s Facial Hair Remover. Wow, what an interesting topic eh? Well, I was both pleasantly surprised and annoyed at the same time. The packet contains a 25ml tube of remover cream, 15ml tube of aftercare cream and a white spatula-thing (well, it’s kinda crossed between a spatula and a paddle!). It’s all very straightforward. Firstly, you wash your face in luke-warm water and if you haven’t used the cream before then you need to carry out a test area. You then apply the cream onto the area that you want to remove the hair with the spatula (or paddle). Only a thin layer is needed (or else you’ll find that a) it’s very messy, or b) it’ll get used up very quickly). You then need to leave the cream to work away. So, 10 to 15 minutes later after I’ve had a cigarette (although, maybe I shouldn’t considering the combustion element of the cream), I use the white plastic thing again (otherwise known as the spatula or paddle) to scrape off the crea
m which should now have removed that horrible few ‘unmentionables’ from my otherwise gorgeous chin. So, I’m no longer fiddling under my chin anymore for loose strands. Once I have washed the remaining residue of cream of my face with lukewarm water, I’m ready to take the brown paper bag off my head that I’d been wearing for the past few days. Voila! Like any sorts of creams like this on delicate areas, it can sting once it’s been on for a few minutes (you should never apply it to unbroken skin or sore areas), but it isn’t bad for the money, and with very little inconvenience. Also, the other slight disadvantage is that it sometimes doesn't quite remove the hair out by the root, so that a second application may be required. Of course, non of this would be necessary if I hadn’t a few years ago begin to pull out the little buggers. But hey, at least it works now! - 25/10/01 Great op. I have one question though: Does it smell like bad eggs like other depilatorie creams do? I have used these creams in the past but absolutely hated the smell of them!

- 24/10/01 Sorry I missed the deadline - you won't hold a grudge for the 2p difference, will you? :) Just a thought - if the cigarette had proved to be a very bad idea, that would've at least got rid of the hair!!!!! |
