Advantages: Hair Reduction/Removal

Disadvantages: Expensive, Painful

As someone who has to shave their legs everyday I was fed up with having sore, stubbly legs!!! I paid up for a course of laser hair removal by a company called Aculight. I have only had one treatment so far and already the difference is amazing. The hair on my legs now only grows back in patches (for lower legs the consultant informed me on average you will need six treatments).

The treatment works by destroying the hair follicle and works best on those with pale skin and dark hair growth. They put some strange gunk on your legs then zap it off with the laser. You have to wear some stylish(!) shades and to begin with it feels as if someone is holding a lighter to your skin. However you soon get used to the pain!!!

WARNING: I have had this treatment too. Although it works (at least if you're pale skinned and dark haired), Aculight is NOT TRUSTWORTHY. You have to pay a large amount of money in advance for a decent deal, but you never get anything to say how many treatments you've bought and how many you have left. This wasn't much of a problem until one day they suddenly pulled out of the salon I was using without warning. They then took months to respond to my request for a refund of my remaining treatments because I didn't want the 45 minute travel time (each way) to the next nearest salon. They sent me a refund claim form and promised me a refund over the phone. Two months later (5 months after I originally requested a refund) they said they had never promised me a refund and would not be giving me any money back, which of their other salons would I like to continue treatments at? Unfortunately I had believed their earlier promises and paid for treatments elsewhere locally. They have left me over £700 out of pocket.

Ooh- I would love to know more, this sounds terrific! Any chance of adding to it? Perhaps info on which parts of the body it can be used on, how lomg the hairs have to be etc!
Sorry for the low rating but although what you wrote was fascinating I really needed more info to decide whether or not it's for me1 Let me know if you change it and I will re rate it.Kim :)
