Advantages: long-lasting, less hair grows back

Disadvantages: painful, have to let hair regrow to do it, long-term use can cause hairs to ingrow.

Waxing - the great long-lasting method of depilation - is it worth the pain?

I probably should admit up front that I'm an ex-waxer...
I used to do it regularly but gave up, not because of the pain, but because my leg hairs started ingrowing <ugh>
Apparently this can happen if you're a regular waxer because waxing weakens the hair regrowth. this is great in that you eventually get far less hair regrowing anyway, but not so good when you get the ingrowing ones.

I would wax again occasionally for a holiday, because waxing leaves you pretty hair-free for about 6 weeks unlike most other methods, as the hairs are ripped out by the roots rather than removed at skin level. It *is* a painful experience, but worth it for the convenience *if* you are using someone who is good at their job (go for a recommendation!)

A downside to waxing is that you have to allow the hairs to regrow to a certain length for waxing to be successful.
It's really not worth trying on shorter hairs (less than 1/2cm or so, but check what they recommend) I went to one salon and asked whether the hairs on my underarms were long enough, as I thought they probably weren't, was told they were, but I left the salon a lot later with sore and bleeding armpits which I couldn't even use deodorant on for days! (They used wax twice and finished off very badly with tweezers!) As the woman asked if I'd hurt my legs as I had "bumps" on them and I figured out she was talking about my muscles (!) which are noticeable from all my gym work (but not ridiculously so)I think maybe she just didn't have a clue! Thankfully not many people are like her.

So - waxing - yes, there's pain, but the benefits are long term....just be aware that with long term regular use you could end up with ingrowing hairs (which do stop after a while!)

LOL kacey - I had a friend who said she'd rather give birth than be waxed! (she'd had 4 kids and 1 waxing treatment!)

Also an ex-waxer, and it was also the ingrowing hairs that put me off. Also shaving tends to leave my skin in a better condition, and you don't have to worry about damaging yourself, i.e. thread veins etc.

No No No way!. A razer will do me fine!. Infact Gill I would rather have a tatto done than wax.
