So as far as I understand, "Dolphin Theraphy" consists in using the company of dolphins to treat/help a variety of "mental" illnesses.
What about the dolphins ? I imagine they are held in captivity for that sort of thing, or attracted by feeding them and making them depend on that food - I think this is completely selfish, stupid and useless ...
I am fortunate enough not to suffer directly or indirectly (family/friends) form any mental illness but even if I did I wouldn't dream of using wild animals to treat it.
Really, people do not know what to do next
I am sure that having a domestic pet would have the same, if not better, effect as a relationship can be built.
So please - don't be selfish - leave doplhins where they belong - not in a psychiatric ward !

I've only just heard about Dolphin therapy and I think it's the most wonderful idea. I've been suffering from depression for about six years and i've tried everything but nothing has eased the pain so this is a new hope for me. A light at the end of the tunnel. I'm looking into it and i'm sure youll find that most of the dolphins have been born and bred in captivity so wildness and freedom are not really issues for them. If a dolphin is left alone, it will die, they are very sociable creatures with humans and their own kind.

It is a real fact that unless you have suffered from depression you will never really grasp the pain and debilitating effect it has on your life.

I suggest that you really should know more about a subject before you diss it so.

Hopefully some day i'll be able to write my own review to let you all know how it went!

I understand what you mean and I know that pet therapy is very useful. But I always try to put myself in other pepoles shoes and I know full well that I am in no position to judge other because if my child needed any kind of treatment then I would want it whether it included animals or not... sorry but I am just being honest.
