Advantages: Amazing products that are beautifully presented and packaged
Disadvantages: None
I don't know why it has taken me so long to write this review, but, I have in other reviews of mine in passing raved about how impressed I have been with everything I have ever bought or had the pleasure of receiving by the big brand name that is Estee Lauder.
Estee Lauder is a name synonomous with quality and is world wide renowned. Their products can be found in all top end department stores and the company has been going strong since it was founded in 1946. It's founders are infact a husband and wife team and after establishing the brand that is Estee Lauder they have successfully accomplished in establishing several other well known companies Clinique, Mop and Aveda to name but a few.
I had seen as a teenager their products in the department stores, picked them up and quickly put them down again after enquiring about the price. The over made up make-up assistant sneering because you have just messed up her display, well, those days are firmly behind me and now I just smile politely at the assistant while I tell her which items I wish to purchase and never ask how much.
Estee Lauder initially started off with only four products in their range, this has changed considerably over the years and now includes a large range of cosmetics, skincare and fragrances.
I first experienced their luxury cosmetics myself some six or seven years ago. I received a cosmetic caddy filled to the brim with Estee Lauder cosmetics. The box was gold coloured with a smooth sateen finish, inside the lid was a large mirror and placed inside the top of the box a range of cosmetics. Eye shadows, blushers, mascara, lipsticks, lipgloss, eye liner and lip liner and a deep blue sateen pouch with a range of brushes inside. The bottom of the box had a pull out drawer which concealed some nail polishes and a little booklet aimed to inspire you with your new make-up collection.
I was completely overwhelmed with emotion at receiving such a lovely gift, my husband really surpassed himself that year and from then on I have been totally faithfull to the brand. In particular the double wear stay-in-place make-up collection.
My favourite product from that collection is the double wear stay-in-place powder. The powder is pressed and not loose and comes in a beautiful deep blue compact. The compact is round and has a high sheen to it and encapsulates quality and class, the initials E and L are entwined in gold on the front of the compact which opens with a simple press and hold motion. Inside the lid is a mirror very handy for touch ups and on the bottom of the compact is of course your powder. The powder is covered wih a clear plastic to protect it and a make-up sponge is also provided to apply your make-up. This applicator sponge is so much better than normal compact applicators. It helps the make-up to apply more evenly and proffessionally without looking too made up.
It comes in 19 different shades and is non-acnegelic, dermatologically tested, oil free, oil absorbing and fragrance free. It doesn't sweat off within 8 hours so the colour stays true and semi matt. It covers a tremendous amount of sins acne, acne scars and other facial scars, helps to minimise fine lines and give a more refined look and even skin tone helping to promote a much more youthful appearance. The sponge applicator helps you apply the powder with ease and it glides on very easily and leaves your skin feeling very soft. It does not dry your skin out or irritate it in any way. It is a double wear powder but that does not mean it leaves you feeling like you are caked in make-up and have that over done appearance. It looks natural assuming that you have bought the correct shade and only a small amount is required when initially applying. Touch ups are easy too. Just dab the sponge applicator over any oily looking patches and you appear fresh and natural looking. The powder includes a sun protection factor 10, very important I think as it will help you not to age too prematurely.
Price wise it is costly, £22.50 for 15g but, in my experience a compact lasts for over a year at a time. When you look at how much a normal compact would cost and compare it to the one Estee Lauder compact you have bought you have probably saved yourself some money. I have been very impressed with all the Estee Lauder cosmetics and skin care products I have purchased over the years but I am particularly impressed with their double wear stay-in-place make-up collection. For years I felt insecure about a small scar on my face left after a dog attack when I was three years old, this make-up gives me my confidence back and covers up my scar and for that reason alone it is priceless.
The postage and packaging costs with their on line store are very minimal and all orders are beautifully packaged. Each order comes complete with two free samples and your receipt is placed inside a little envelope something on par with Tiffany & Co. Each order is boxed and wrapped in tissue paper and makes it an absolute pleasure to receive and an excellent alternative to department store shopping.
Currently Estee Lauder are offering a make-up collection and case with any fragrance purchase, the collection alone would cost in the region of £270 and will cost only £45 with any fragrance. A really great buy for all that you are getting included with this offer and with that I would urge anyone yet to be convinced just to give it a go. Enjoy.
Thanks for reading.
