The active ingredient in Fade Out is called hydroquinine. It acts to depigment the melanin cells that can cause discolouration such as freckles and age spots. What the manufacturers aren't so keen to tell you is that the ingredient can cause permanent damage to the skin, which is why they're considering banning it completely in the USA. I'm not suggesting that people should never use this, however, just that they should be aware of the potntial risks. It's also work noting that it can only affect discolouration caused by hyperpigmentation. It has no effect whatsoever on skin which is discoloured except for the action of the melanin (tanning) ... Yep, if you believe the hype behind this product, you may believe anything. I have some uneven pigmentation on my arm which gets worse in the sun and although it may be relatively minor and a bit vain of me I hate it and having no sucess talking to my gp I decided to use this after I was recommended it. Fade out cream is there to remove unwanted marks, like pigmentation problems, can reduce freckles and I even heard someone say it could reduce scars. The pot is not that huge and rather unattractive in its white and beige packaging. Yet I would have forgiven that if it worked the wonders it claimed to. It also smells quite bad I have to say and not the kind if ... Read the complete review

Fade out extra care: active fade cream This is a useful product for fading unwanted marks on the skin, in particular, those caused by the sun – freckles, sunspots etc… It can also be used to fade abnormal dark pigmentation areas, and age or liver spots on the face and hands. Brown marks on the skin are due to a build up of pigment (Melanin) under the skin, which is constantly being brought to the surface. This process is particularly active when the skin is exposed to sunlight and so causes freckles and brown marks to appear. Fade out extra care needs to be given about 6 weeks applying morning and night for a result to be seen. ... Read the complete review

I bought Fade Out in a last ditch; attempt to get some relief from the dark circles under my eyes. I applied it faithfully as directed but sadly I cant say that I saw any remarkable difference. It did however moistureise around my eyes which was no bad thing but to be perfectly honest it did not remove the dark circles. I would suggest that "early to bed early to rise" might be a better option and cheaper as well. Needless to say I wont be wasting my hard eaarned cash on this product again and I certainly would never recommend it to any one. ... Read the complete review

I have always wanted to get rid of the smattering of freckles over the bridge of my nose (being as vain as I am!!) and decided to try this product which the name suggests fades out freckles. What a complete rip off and false advertising! This cream supposedly works by "preventing" the appears of new freckles - it is in fact nothing more than a very expensive pot of sunblock! and the same effects could be achieve by using a factor 25 sunscreen. ...
