I'm not going to preach about how inconsiderate smokers are, because I was one. I'm not going to comment on how stupid they are not to heed the dangers, because I didn't. I'm not going to tell of how easy it is to give up if you really want to, because it isn't. I know I've done it. So what am I going to say? Simply, if you are in the process of trying to stop, then keep at it, you'll get there eventually but it's going to be a long, hard struggle. In August 2000 I stopped smoking. I thought I would never stop because until that time I enjoyed smoking, it was part of me, part of my life. Yes I knew all the health risks, like all smokers do, but it is a lifestyle some people enjoy, and I was one of them. However, when I actually thought about it I only really enjoyed smoking when I got up in the mornings and after meals, the rest of the time it was just a craving, I was feeding a habit. Some people may know, others will not but I have recently given up smoking and I have not had a cigarette? today! Sounds drastic I know but as in the methods of alcoholics anonymous, you cannot give up a habit for life, until you are dead! I say this because I have actually quit smoking on numerous occasions, but have always returned to the "dreaded weed" eventually. So my first piece of advice would be to take each day at a time!
